house update

the cabinets are going in which is really exciting. we discovered that the island was blocking pathways to walk in the house, which is not so exciting. we moved the island into the kitchen instead of having it halfway into the hallway, which made no sense. the island also felt really far away from the kitchen sink.

we are also going to make it shorter by removing that middle piece so it's easier to walk between the island and the dining table. this means we have to move all the electrical for the lighting, but we already had to move a lot of electrical that was installed wrong anyways.



the ikea vanity actually look really nice. the color matches the bambu tile really well. I adore the huge sink. the electrical and the space for the medicine cabinet were not centered on the vanity and had to be redone too.

redoing all these things is very annoying and stressful. we were supposed to be done with our renovations more than a month ago! we ended up switching contractors, and I feel much more confident that this will get done well with the new guys. it seems to be going really well so far. I've learned my lesson...ALWAYS get at least 3 bids and ALWAYS check references!!!
