kitchen before and after pictures

I love looking at these before and after pictures of our kitchen renovation! the change is amazing. I'm going to make more of these as I find the right photo pairings.

printed pillowcases

I bought lena corwin's book, printing by hand, and this is my first attempt at printing a pattern onto fabric. I made my own stamp and printed these two pillowcases. I think they look awesome on our bed!

grey bedroom

we did end up painting the bedroom grey like I was thinking before. the color is benjamin moore "gray owl". it is a gorgeous color! I'm thrilled with how it turned out. it looks beautiful with the color of the wood of the closet doors. all the colors in that room so far look beautiful together, but I still have a lot of work.

I need to hang artwork and photos and just make this room cozier and less boring in general. in an ideal world, we'd have a king size bed with a headboard and a much thinner mattress. I'd also really like to have wall shelves in that corner to the left of the bed and a nice rug for the floor with a goldenrod- or ochre-colored pattern.

another amazing paper artist, yulia bordskaya.

kate slater illustration

I just read about kate slater on armas design. her work is incredible! she makes 3D collages using paper and wire and then photographs them.

grey walls

I'm starting to think about how to decorate our bedroom now. here are a couple pictures of what it looks like now:

I'm really starting to like the idea of painting the walls a light grey...I think it'll make the room feel cozier, and it will look really beautiful with the color of the closet doors. I found these pictures of really beautiful grey walls on cookie's website:

house update

I put some things on the mantle temporarily to cover up that bare outlet. I love that round antique mirror! I have to find a special place to hang it permanently.

our contractor is coming back to work, and I think we'll be wrapping up the rest of the construction with the house in the next month. finally I'll have my pendant lights over our kitchen island, and we'll have all the new doors. I'm so happy and excited! I hope everything goes smoothly with the remaining work and our final building inspection!

elly's succulent photos

these photos from elly's flickr are so gorgeous. I love them.

vintage jewelry chandelier

I saw this amazing chandelier by floto + warner made out of old jewelry on apartment therapy.

framed paintings

I framed those two paintings I did recently in some extremely cheap premade frames I found online. the frames are surprisingly nice! I went to the frame store and bought some spacers which you stick onto the glass, so the paintings have a little room to breathe. I'm happy with my cheap solution...custom framing is ridiculously expensive.

I'm waiting to collect a bit more art and photographs before I hang all these up on our bedroom wall. I also have been contemplating painting our bedroom a soft, warm grey.

heart ornaments

I had lots of scraps and leftover materials from my chickadee ornaments, so I made all these hearts. I think they'll look really cute on our christmas tree.

faceted table lamp

I love love love this lamp from west elm! it's on sale too! ...but I don't need it. sigh.

colorful patterns at urban outfitters

I was browsing urban outfitters and found some awesome things today:

I love these floor cushions. I always thought it would be cool to have built-in benches around a dining table, and these would be so fun to put on the benches. we were thinking about doing that with our dining area in our new house, but we love our current table and chairs too much to give up.

I love the colorful pattern of this bedding. even just a couple pillows on the bed would look great.
