last round painting

last round painting...for now anyways. I'm planning to do a whole series of paintings with these mountain-y shapes. I also need to try to get a nice picture of all the round paintings as a group. I'm extremely happy with them!

I've been really inspired by flea market style recently, so I bought a couple pieces of vintage fabric on etsy to make throw pillows with. hopefully, they will be nice.

house update

I've been posting a lot about art these days because I'm very focused on art right now. I'm applying to MFA programs this fall, and I have a lot of work to do! of the 20 pieces I need done, I have about 2. :P it took me a long time to figure out what direction I wanted to take, but I have an idea now so I think things will progress pretty quickly. it's a lot of work, but I'm really excited about it!

we have been doing a lot of work on the house still, but I've been lazy about pictures. I've especially been spending a lot of time on the yard, which still needs a lot of work but is better. I'm going to go around and take a bunch of pictures of the exterior of the house and post before and after photos. it's really pretty crazy how much the house has changed. I don't realize it at all unless I look at the old photos. it's been a very slow process! it's really hard to believe we have owned this house for over a year now! it doesn't feel like that long at all.

this is such a great way to keep your entryway organized...we really have trouble with this at our house. this is all made up of various ikea organizers and looks so nice!

more succulents

I bought the most amazing hanging plant from the plant sale this weekend! I love it soo much!



and I found a lot of succulents that I've never seen before. here are a couple of the little arrangements I made with them. we counted this weekend, and, between me and my neighbor, we have over 100 succulents in pots on our patio! crazy! I need to be cut off!

I'm addicted to succulents...here is a few from my collection! I'm going to the cabrillo plant sale tomorrow and am extremely excited! I hope I get some rare and special succulents!

rich bought me the blue succulent with the shallow terracotta pot today. I'm so happy!

another ikea favorite. it's tempting to get one of these.

outdoor shower and vegetable garden

the outdoor shower is in and along with our board racks, our house is now officially surfer's heaven (a good surf break is less than a block from our house!). we are going to put lots of plants around the shower to make it feel more jungle-y. the side of the house with the shower still needs a lot of clean up.



we also planted a vegetable garden on the other side of the house. I planted a lot of herbs, which I'm really excited about. things are starting to grow!

julie evans paintings

julie evans' work really inspires me. you have to look at it big to appreciate it.

ikea benches

we are finally working on cleaning up our hideous front yard. there is a spot in the front under a nice birch tree where you can see the ocean, and we want to put a bench there. I've been looking for nice, cheap, modern benches with no luck until I checked out ikea's website. these all look very promising!

ikea favorites

I this rug is great, and I'm thinking of getting it for our bedroom if it's big enough. such a great pattern and great price!



I love the entire ikea ps series. there is a cabinet that would work perfectly near my door but doesn't come in white, which makes me very sad. both the white and the red look great.



the ikea mynta planters are awesome. I have some in light grey, and I love them. the charcoal grey ones this season are very nice too. maybe I should get a few more!
